2026 Convention Wrap Up!
The business of our 2026 AFSCME Council 5 convention has now concluded and we wanted to ensure you are provided with information so you know what happened! More than 400 AFSCME Council 5 members came to conduct the business of our union.
First, this convention's main focus was on electing a new AFSCME Council 5 President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary, as well as Executive Board members representing numerous sectors and districts across our Council. Congratulations and thanks to all who ran for union office.

Delegates heard speeches from special speakers and we presented awards to various locals who exhibited extraordinary achievements in building our union family.
We also shared our 2026 Annual Report to the Convention!
We were thrilled to hear from our AFSCME International President Patrick Moran, AFSCME Council 5 President Eric Hesse, AFSCME Council 5 Executive director Bart Andersen, MN AFL CIO President Bernie Burnham, State Senator john Hoffman, AFSCME Minnesota and Dakotas Retirees United, AFSCME Council 65 Executive Director Shannon Douvier, and the father of our late AFSCME Council 5 Field Representative Khalid Abdi, Mohamed Ibrahim.

RESOLUTIONS that were passed during the convention will be posted here soon when we can properly compile and insert any amendments into the resolutions to ensure you see resolutions that were voted on in their final form.
