REGISTRATION IS OPEN for
2026 AFSCME DAY ON THE HILL
TUESDAY, March 10, 2026
Registration is now OPEN to attend AFSCME DAY ON THE HILL on Tuesday, March 10, 2026!
This annual union event is critical to show our AFSCME union power and fight for the legislative priorities that will benefit our union members, families, and communities. We need to show the AFSCME Green Machine means business as we hold elected officials accountable! Every year, hundreds of AFSCME Council 5 members from dozens of local unions advocate at the Capitol by pushing lawmakers to support and pass our legislative priorities that are centered on funding the services we provide and investing in the frontline workers who deliver them.

WE NEED ALL HANDS ON DECK!
This is one of many ways our union flexes our power and fights for our union members. We are grateful for the enormous amount of work that goes into this even from our staff and the critical input members of the Planning Committee bring to make this event as effective and smooth as possible.
Registration fee is $30, HOWEVER - Please check with your local union leadership if your local has chosen "Local Pay" as an option to cover registration and potentially other costs. Many local unions do cover the cost of attendance. If you do not know who your local union leaders are, you can call us at 651-450-4990 or email Council@afscmemn.org. Guests, including children, are welcome to attend.

You can expect:
- Breakfast buffet provided in the morning,
- A morning session that is focused on what our union's legislative priorities are, a trainings on how to have a successfully meeting with your lawmakers, and brief remarks from union leadership,
- Meeting and networking with other union members in your breakout rooms that are divided into your Senate Districts (your Senate District number will be on the name badge you will receive at registration),
- Buses will then meet our members in the lower level of the RiverCentre and will run continuously throughout the day between the RiverCentre and the Capitol.
- A rally in the Capitol Rotunda with guest speakers, member speakers, and making our collective voices heard loud and clear in the Capitol,
- Meetings with your lawmakers will be scheduled throughout the day when you get to the Capitol. Please note that some meetings are subject to change and any changes will be communicated with someone in your group. Some lawmakers will not work with our union to schedule a meeting with you, their constituent. This is shameful and we need to know. If this happens to you, please tell your union's Legislative Team, who you will be introduced to in the morning. We want to know what lawmakers are too scared to meet with their constituents and call out their disrespect.
We are grateful for the work of Planning Committee members and AFSCME Council 5 staff who always ensure Day on the Hill is effective, runs smoothly, and is informative and powerful!
Other Important Notes:
- BANNERS - local unions who have banners, please bring them to the AFSCME Council 5 South St. Paul office prior to Day on the Hill so we can display them proudly around the room.
- There is major construction and some changes made to the security screening process in the MN State Office Building and Capitol building that will impact the day. Please ensure you are attentive to the Capitol Complex map that will be in your packet and attend your legislative meetings on time. Please be patient as our heroic AFSCME Council 5-represented Capitol Security union members keep us safe at the Capitol and are implementing new security screening measures. Be sure to thank them!
- Accessibility/ADA Resources: MN State Capitol and St. Paul RiverCentre.
- Please text pictures of you and/or your group throughout the day to 612-247-3725 where we will share them on social media and in our union publications.
💚 Every year, we gather together to fight for our legislative priorities to improve the lives of our fellow union members, all working people, retirees, and communities!
