Ads Highlight November’s Choice

AFSCME International is running a new television ad, entitled “Doors,” which focuses on the choice voters will face in the November election. While Congressional Democrats pushed through a jobs bill that kept the doors open at local schools, libraries and senior centers, Republicans voted to lay off hundreds of thousands of Americans. While Democrats looked out for us, paying for this bill by eliminating corporate loopholes, Republicans looked out for CEOs who shipped jobs overseas. It’s a clear choice this November. Either we open doors to a better future or we slam the door in its face. Watch the ad.

The spot airs for two weeks starting Sept. 7 in four battleground states: Michigan, Nevada, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Democratic candidates in those states are now under attack for supporting the federal Jobs Bill, which passed in August and provided states with $26 billion in emergency funding for vital public services.

Please thank those who voted to save our struggling economy and our jobs: Sens. Klobuchar and Franken, and Reps. Ellison, McCollum, Oberstar, Peterson and Walz. Let’s also remember those who slammed the door on our jobs: Reps. Bachmann, Kline and Paulsen.
